Did you ever dream to draw on the space around you? The 3D printing technology can turn this dream into reality even without the need to have an expensive 3D printer in hand. 3Doodler is a new product manufactured by Wobbleworks that should appear in the markets by April 2014 allowing you to draw in a 3D space without limiting your creativity to a flat paper.

The 3Doodler uses a common 3D printing technique, known as Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), which extrudes a heated plastic that solidifies after getting out of the device to create stable structure (check What are the Types of 3D Printing Technologies). The heated plastic is available in different colors and types on the 3Doodle store.

Mainly, there are two types of the plastic materials, the PLA plastic and the ABS plastic. the PLA is made from plants rich of starch such as sugar beets and it is eco-friendly. Also, it is safe to design products that contact with food such as packages.

The ABS is a petroleum-based plastic and not safe to use with products that may contact with food. However, ABS is much harder and glossy than the PLA material.

3Doodler provides variety of plastic packs that come with different colors and combinations. The video below demonstrates how the 3Doodler works and how it can build the 3D objects in the real time.

In addition to 3D printing pen, the 3Ddoodler comes with a stand that stabilize the drawing and ensure building an accurate lines in the 3D space. The stand’s two legs help to direct the drawing pen through the desired routes.
